Sony are really making some positive moves in the camera world, if they get the pricing right. So I think, as with compacts, we're going to see pixel counts climb higher for cheaper cameras (where less knowledgeable buyers look at the megapixel count), whereas the higher-end cameras will keep a better balance between megapixel count and noise. The much faster and more accurate AF, the faster frame rate, and the absolutely wonderful screen were much more noticeable than a few more megapixels. Before the A700, I was using a KM7D (6Mp), and moving to the A700 the increased resolution wasn't really noticeable. I've got a A700 (12Mp) and a Canon Powershot G9 (12Mp) - they couldn't be more different in terms of sensitivity and noise, especially at high ISO. The megapixel count is only one factor - and not a very important one really. I almost bought the A700 couple of days ago glad I waited. Think they realise that the A300 or A350 might be more attractive to us.

Unless you shoot a lot of indoor sports thats really the ideal camera for 99% of us.Īnthony Posey SIR:Poseyal Knight Poet of Desposyni says:įunny how Sony have been heavily discounting the A700 before PMA.

So assuming that Sony can keep noise at marginally better than the A100 (and after 2 and a bit years of development that shouldnt be hard) then a 14mp sensor, with a weak AA filter, and decent noise control could make killer iso 100, 200, 400 and 800 images. More MP can mean better images, but over at lower sensitivities. Ya but more MP is better for stock photography which it seems i tend to use more and more. 342433/pics-surface-of-sony-dslr-with-flip+sc.įrogness: more MP does not mean better images. Oh by the way do you know if the live view lcd bends upwards as well? All the pics of the lcd so far have it aimed down. Looks like I'll get to stay with Minolta- I mean Sony.

I think the A350 should be the A900 instead and just make it the flagship. Still, 14 mp is a lot for an amateur camera. The A350 is basically an A200 with a 14mp CCD and liveview, I believe. So, where does this leave A700, what has it got on the A350?Īrkku, AFAIK, some of the A700's advantages are magnesium shell (except for the back,) higher fps, more AF points with special 2.8 sensor, more advanced quick-navi system, user settings memory, bigger viewfinder, etc. More pixels on the a350 than on the 700 ? like the canon 450 vs. It looks like sonystyle just took down the page.
